The San Francisco Conservatory of Music is looking for our next Human Resources Manager. Under the direction of the Associate Vice President of Human Resources and Administration, The Human Resources Manager will: OperationalCollaborate with other departments to overhaul and scale our employment lifecycle operations, including reviewing all hiring, onboarding, position/team changes, and offboarding practices, and recommending appropriate solutions. In particular, research best practices for the timely onboarding of student employees, adjunct faculty, and artists to ensure I-9 verifications and payments are completed in a timely manner.Manage the administration of recruiting SFCM staff and support Hiring Managers through drafting and posting job descriptions, screening candidates, and scheduling panel interviews.Collaborate with the Office of the Provost on faculty searches and provide support where needed.Generate reports on key HR metrics and analyze data as needed for internal use and for submission to local, state and federal agencies. Coordinate with the Office of the Provost, Academic Affairs, and the Payroll Departments to assess the process of generating faculty contracts and load reports, and work together to create sustainable solutions that ensure accuracy and timeliness of faculty payments.Conduct monthly reconciliation of employee benefit contributions to insurance bills for medical, dental, vision, voluntary life, AD&D, and other insurance products.Consult with the AVP of HR & Administration, IT Services, Payroll, and other relevant departments to identify and implement best practices for maintaining digital employee files.Represent the Human Resources Department on various committees as assigned. As needed, plan employee events such as the faculty & staff holiday party, service award lunch, and staff & faculty in-service day.Employee RelationsServe as first-tier point-of-contact for employee relations concerns. Partner with AVP of HR & Administration to build productive and trusted advisor/business partner relationships with SFCM leaders and direct reports.Act as a strategic advisor and collaborator with SFCM leaders to influence and shape culture, organizational plans, and human capital strategies.Provide strategic Employee Relations support, business partnership, and coaching to SFCM leaders and direct reports.Triage employee relations casework, identify potential solutions to address different case types and actions appropriately using SFCM policies and guidelines.Collaborate with the AVP of HR & Administration, Office of the Provost, and other SFCM leaders to develop desired and appropriate employee training programs. Hiring Managers to ensure solid orientation and onboarding programs for new faculty and staff members.The incumbent will perform other duties as required. A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is desirable.PHR and/or SHRM-CP certification or other certificate establishing a commitment to HR learning is desirable. A minimum of five years of HR experience as an HR generalist.Strongly demonstrates being a self-starter, can take initiative, and has the ability to work independently and as part of a team.High level of proficiency working with databases, building and downloading reports with the ability to analyze data.Very strong attention to detail when analyzing and reviewing contracts, offer letters, faculty load reports and benefits invoices. Ability to maintain complex records with attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.Ability to engender trust, credibility, and confidence with all employees at all levels.Exercises a high level of discretion and sounds business judgment and knows when to escalate concerns to the AVP of HR & Administration.Commitment to working as a team and maintaining regular communication with the AVP of HR & Administration, Business Office, Office of the Provost, Office of the President, Academic Affairs, and other departments and divisions. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint as well as the equivalent programs in Google (e.g. Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.) Excellent written and verbal communication skillsCompensationThis is a full-time exempt in-office position, and the starting annualized salary is $85,000.
