Head Rigger & Facility Manager

Circus Center, a non-profit organization and the oldest and largest circus training and performing arts center on the West Coast, seeks a Full Time Head Rigger & Facility Manager.

The Head Rigger & Facility Manager is responsible for the management of all rigging apparatuses at Circus Center. They will also be responsible for maintaining and managing the spaces located inside and surrounding our Circus Center building. The position is a salaried full time position. This position reports to the Head of School for rigging job duties and the Executive Director for facility management. Evenings and some weekends will be essential. Compensation:

- $86,000-$92,000/year DOE

Duties Include:

Head Rigger Duties (65% of position):

-Work with instructors to ensure a seamless changing of apparatuses during and between classes

-Provide monthly inspections of rigging equipment with proper digital documentation

-Manage the inventory and organization of the training & storage spaces

-Train instructors in proper rigging techniques

-Renovate, restore, and maintain all rigging equipment and circus apparatuses and outsource responsibility if needed

-Oversee the maintenance and repair of acrobatic or aerial equipment: mats, trapezes, trampoline, hoops, wash silks and slings, etc.

-Organize load-in and load-out teams

-Lead rigging crews during performances & standard training

-Organize bi-yearly safety trainings for all staff

Facility Manager Duties (35% of position):

-Managing budgets for facility repair and maintenance, new equipment purchases

-Order and stock supplies for custodial duties, and various departments

-Supervise outsourced custodial crew and coordinate shifts

-Conduct any maintenance or repairs to the building,and contact professionals for more specific tasks

-Organize cleaning closets, storage rooms, and training spaces

-Maintain garden, front & exterior of building, trash bins, air purifiers etc.

-Assist and support the Executive Director in any improvements to the building

-Manage emergencies as they come up such as: plumbing issues, water leaks, unwanted persons, etc.

Requirements:

-Have the ability to satisfy all physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling up to 50 pounds; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling; reaching above shoulder level.

-Good organizational skills and time management

-Project management skills

-Hands-on knowledge and experience in the safe operation of a variety of tools, machinery, power equipment used in performing essential functions.

-Working knowledge of Gmail, Google online platforms, Microsoft Word and Excel

-Ability to multitask, prioritize, and efficiently complete all activities

-Effective communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to interact/communicate with all types of members of the community including teachers, administrators, board members, parents and students

-Experience in regularly inspecting equipment and keeping record of inventory/upgrades

-Self-starter, ability to set and meet goals, and a desire to excel. Ability to problem solve

-Experience holding lines for various circus acts is a plus!
