Tri-City Volunteers Food Bank (“TCV”) is seeking an experienced, mission-driven leader passionate about ending food insecurity in the southern corridor of Alameda County. Tri-City Volunteers is seeking an Executive Director who can leverage their leadership expertise and knowledge to provide healthy and culturally sensitive nourishment to those who need it in our diverse community.

Who We Are

Established in 1970, Tri-City Volunteers Food Bank is a non-profit organization that provides food assistance to the residents of Alameda County. We are the largest client-direct food bank in the area. We serve up to 6,000 individuals EVERY MONTH through our marketplace and bag lunch programs and with COVID-19, those numbers have risen exponentially. With a staff of 5, a volunteer force of almost 1,900 individuals, and a cash budget that barely breaks $600,000, we are extremely efficient in distributing over 6 million pounds of food annually. We serve all low-income residents of Alameda County. Many of our clients come from migrant families, are under-employed, or are facing unemployment due to disability, a lack of relevant work skills, or other barriers.

What You’ll Do

The Executive Director is responsible for the development and implementation of programs and services to meet the needs of food-insecure residents of southern Alameda County (Fremont-Union. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director manages operations, development/fundraising, finance, administration including HR and IT, and community relations for a $4.5M organization. Responsibilities of this position include achieving organizational goals set in partnership with the Board, providing direct supervision of full- and part-time staff, as well as overall leadership of a large group of volunteers.

What You’ll Bring to TCV

A successful candidate can demonstrate many or all the following attributes:

● Minimum three (3) years director level leadership experience in an organization of comparable size with public and private sector constituents and a variety of stakeholders

● Minimum of five (5) prior management experience in one or more of the following areas: operations, financial/budget management, organizational development

● Proven track record working with community leaders, funders, and constituents to build, cultivate and continue support

● Intermediate knowledge and experience in public and media relations including social media platforms.

● Excellent presentation skills

● Computer proficient; skilled in basic office applications and database management.

● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

Preferred Qualifications

● Previous leadership experience in a social-services or client-facing nonprofit organization. Food Banking experience a plus.

● Operations and supervisory experience in food supply chain or emergency food systems

● Strong, in-depth knowledge of southern Alameda County, including the Union City – Newark- Fremont corridor

Physical Requirements

This position is in a both an office and open warehouse environment and may have occasional exposure to seasonal weather temperatures. Able to perform the following duties with or without accommodation:

● Participate or assist in physical tasks and activities which include but are not limited to bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting, stooping, and reaching above shoulder height to move product and equipment more than 60 lbs.

● Traverse the warehouse floor frequently throughout the day to execute duties.

● Stand/sit for the duration of the scheduled shift.

● Able to operate computer and mobile devices.

● Mobility to respond to moving vehicles, equipment, and loud noises/sounds typical in a warehouse setting.

● Sit at a desk, conference room or workstation for more than three (3) hours at a time.

● Travel to local events for meetings with external stakeholders.

● Communicate in clear speaking voice in person, before large audiences and over audio or video-based communications applications (e.g., phone, Zoom).

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt on-site position working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 p.m. with occasional nights and weekends announced in advance. The range of pay for this position is $135,000-$150,000 annualized, depending on experience. TCV offers a competitive benefit package including:

● Medical/Dental/Vision Coverage: TCV pays 100% of employee premiums for medical, dental and vision coverage. Employees may opt to pay premium(s) to add their dependents to our plans.

● Paid Time Off (PTO): Employees are eligible to accrue up to 72 hours of paid time off and 40 hours of paid sick leave in your first year

● Paid Holidays: Ten (10) paid holidays annually
