Job Requirements: Program CNC lathe parts to the customer specification. Fully set up CNC lathe so it's ready for production or to finish the complete operation if the jobs does not have high quantities. The setup responsibilities include:
- Get program from the computer and transfer to CNC
- Get the information for the tool list from the program and Get the appropriate tools to get the machine ready
- Install the tools in the appropriate tool holder to start the setup of the machine
- Install the tool holders on the machine and get the appropriate off sets for each tool
- Get the X and Y zero giving by the program or by the programmer
- Establish the Z0 for the particular job
- Carefully test the program and look for potential errors
- Finish the first part and do a careful inspection looking for tool and programing errors
- Get an official first article inspection from the section lead or inspector
- If the job is a production job, run 2 to 5 parts to ensure repeatability and tool life
- Properly train the operator to continue running job, or as needed, run the job yourself. If someone else if machining with your program, occasionally check with the operator to make sure there are no long-term questions or issues.
- Occasionally inspect parts or check that parts are being properly inspected by the operator to ensure the setup is consistently making good parts.
- Fill out any required paperwork (including via computer or tablet) for the job like in-process inspections, router sign-offs, etc.
Programming Skills:
- Demonstrated CNC Lathe programming experience, MasterCAM preferred but others considered
- Work samples & programming samples a plus
Bonus Skills:
- Ability to inspect parts made by others, and give constructive feedback as necessary
- CMM and/or other inspection tool experience
