Job Description
Nick Engel & Co. is a fine jewelry store carrying 10+ local goldsmiths in our store, and also offer custom design and Design-Your-Own Wedding Rings workshops. We are a small team of multi-purpose jewelers, designers and entrepreneurs located in the Castro district of San Francisco, CA. A tight-knit and friendly team, our business has been expanding, and we are searching for a positive and knowledgeable new member. You must be friendly, responsible, knowledgeable and results-driven. You will be responsible for all sales duties, and must have a drive to improve and increase our business. Position starts ASAP.
As a Sales Associate, you will work closely with our customers, our jewelers and vendors. This includes keeping up with a multitude of constant emails, keeping them organized and following up. Includes working closely with customers to determine their needs, answer their questions about our in-store products and custom projects and classes, and recommend solutions in person and via email. You will meet daily with Nick to keep track of calendar items and workflow.
You will need a positive, organized and welcoming attitude and be able to ensure maximum client satisfaction. To be successful as a sales associate, you should stay up-to-date with our product features and maintain our store’s visual appearance and cleanliness every day. Ultimately, the duties of a sales associate are to achieve excellent customer service, while consistently meeting the store’s sales goals. Ask questions! We love questions :). If you are someone who loves jewelry but still needs to learn, no worries! If you’re eager to learn the trade, we will teach you.
Responsibilities
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent service
Showing jewelry to walk-in customers
Welcome customers to the store and answer their questions
Follow and achieve sales goals on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis
Maintain relationships with our jewelry artists through emails and a mailing list
Maintain good relationships with our vendors
Remain knowledgeable on products offered and discuss available options
Process purchases via Square
Cross-sell products
Handle returns of merchandise
Maintain store cleanliness daily
Maintain jewelry cleanliness monthly
Comply with inventory control procedures
Suggest ways to improve sales (e.g. planning marketing activities, changing the store’s design, etc.)
Skills
Proven work experience as a Retail Sales associate, Sales representative or similar role
Previous experience in jewelry industry is a plus!
Detail oriented
Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices
Proficiency in English communications, including spelling
Basic math skills
Hands-on experience with POS transactions
Familiarity with inventory procedures
Solid communication and interpersonal skills
A friendly and energetic personality with customer service focus
Bonus Skills
CAD knowledge
Any jewelry industry speak/knowledge
Hours
Wednesday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
Saturday-Sunday, 11:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
