We seek people that are creative and deliver on the smallest details. We are hiring a Floral Designer for our Mill Valley Flower shop. We want to hear from you if you have a minimum 2 years experience as a floral designer in a retail or events environment, preferably a flower shop, are creative, adaptable, innovative and dependable!
Responsibilities:
Must be knowledgeable about a wide range of flowers, know their names, seasonal availability, and how long they will stay fresh
Must be kind and patient with customers and team members at all times
Conceptualize, plan, and execute floral design elements for event production with great attention to detail and style
Style and scope must be reflective of the audience with a strong understanding of personal and corporate events
Oversee event installations and strikes pertaining to floral and specialty designs and accessories including tabletop, linens, candles, and Styling items while maintaining excellent guest experience skills and highlighting creativity and unique talent
Confer regularly with in-house team and clients regarding budget and type of arrangements desired
Plan and execute according to client's requirements, utilizing knowledge of design and properties of materials
Suggest and select flora and foliage for arrangements, working with numerous combinations to synthesize and develop new creations
Order and purchase flower and supplies from our wholesalers and growers to meet appropriate budget and cost requirements
Design and lead production of vendors with efficiency, creativity, and timeliness
Create and change displays to keep a vibrant shop front
Conduct classes or demonstrations, or train other workers to allow for a strong on-call labor crew based on business volume
Qualifications:
- Experience as a florist designer for a minimum 2 years
- Knowledge of different types of flowers, plants, and floral arrangements
- Strong artistic and creative skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality standards
- Customer service-oriented mindset
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
-High School Diploma or GED
-A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a floral environment
-Must be highly flexible, intuitive, creative, and organized to meet the pressure and demands of a volume driven floral design studio while maintaining the highest quality standards when possible
-Must have a basic understanding basic accounting and standard business operation practices
-Basic computer skills, i.e., e-mail, POS, Shopify, etc
-Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
-Capable of working safely and efficiently within a fast-paced environment
-Ability to maintain a neat, organized, and safe work environment
-Requires a valid California driver’s license
-Ability to safely lift, pack and move objects that weigh up to 50 lbs.
-Candidate must have excellent communication skills, have an upbeat and positive personality, and get along well with others
-The employee is required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb or crawl
-The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
-The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
-The temperature will vary from hot to cold depending on the weather
-The employee must be able to drive a 20 ft. van in case needed
Additional Skills not required but appreciated
- Experience with e-commerce platforms for online flower sales
- Knowledge of social media and how to creatively engage
- Fluency in Spanish or other multilingual abilities

Job Type: Part & Full time
Salary: $19.50 - $25.50 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
Schedule:
4 hour shift
8 hour shift
Holidays
Monday to Friday
On call
Weekends as needed
