POSITION TITLE: CIVIL FOREMAN

PRIMARY SUPERVISOR: Civil Division Project Manager(s)

DEPARTMENT: Civil

SUPERVISES: Field Crew

STATUS: Full Time/Exempt

SALARY RANGE: $40-$50/hr Beginning salary will be commensurate with education and experience based on appropriate industry standards.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: A Civil Foreman manages workers, motivating them to complete projects on schedule. The Civil Foreman ensures that the crew complies with site rules and regulations while monitoring their work quality. Foremen also collaborate with clients, suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure all aspects of the project proceed as planned. Civil foreman must be able to read blueprints and construction plans, maintain equipment and manage paperwork. They may also work on the project site alongside the crew.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

● High school diploma, GED or equivalent

● Strong leadership skills and be able to lead a team.

● Must be physically capable of manually digging & backfilling holes and trenches.

● Basic computer skills, able to use company email.

● The ability to read, comprehend and build from construction drawings and documents: site plans, structural,

architectural, and civil

● Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working for a grading, utility, or other heavy civil company.

● Flexible to work shift work, to include long days, early mornings, and weekends if needed.

● Ability to follow all safety policies and procedures while contributing to and maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly

work environment.

● A valid driver’s license with an MVR record that classifies you as insurable. CDL not required, but highly desirable.

● Must be able to pass a DOT physical, if you are to drive a CDL required company vehicle.

● Comfortable/able to drive larger vehicles safely (F350, F450, or F550 size)

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be a self-starter, team player, and results oriented.

● Ability to tow trailers a plus, but not required.

● Fluency in English; Spanish is not required, but highly desirable

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

All of the responsibilities listed below are considered essential functions of this position. Additionally, this position is expected to ensure that the core operating values and the strategic direction of the company are adhered to.

● Follow detailed method of procedures (MOP) and practices to perform installation and maintenance of equipment.

● Maintain and submit complete and accurate files/logs/pictures/reports as determined by the supervisor and/or other

management personnel daily.

● Mentor junior crew members.

● Adhere to all Company and industry (i.e., OSHA) standards/regulations.

● Pickup/Deliver supplies, tools, equipment, cabinets, batteries, etc., via company vehicle (towing trailer if

applicable).

● Lead and manage a crew.

● Layout work and oversee correct installation/construction of sewer, gas, water, electrical, and storm systems.

● Layout and oversee grading operations including but not limited to: basements, house pads, flatwork, & foundations

● Follow proper safety procedures when completing installations (OSHA guidelines).

● Develops and maintains a positive company image, both internally with fellow employees and with customers.

● Responsible for the upkeep of all company-issued tools, vehicles, and equipment.

● Provides superior customer service, ensuring all essential job functions are performed in a timely, efficient, accurate,

and safe manner.

● Adhere to all driving requirements as determined by State and Federal regulations.

● Company vehicles/equipment must always be clean and presentable.

● Develop and maintain a positive company image and provide a strong example for crew members for quality, safety,

and professionalism.

● Other duties as assigned.

Physical Activity:

● The ability to sit, stand, kneel, or stoop for extended periods of time.

● Must have accurate hearing, speech, vision, and color recognition.

● Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 80 lbs.

● Must be able to safely work with sharp tools or power equipment.

● Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.

● Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
