I am looking for someone to help me as a personal care attendant / caregiver on the weekend mornings. I will need help beginning at 8:00 in the morning on Saturday and Sunday. The shift is at least 2.5 hours but sometimes can go to 3 or 4 hours. I am looking for someone to start as soon as possible.
The pay is $23/hour and requires no paperwork.
Job duties include personal care including showering, helping with a portable toilet, dressing, driving me to errands (grocery shopping, etc), household chores, light yardwork, etc. Saturday is laundry/groceries/chores and Sunday is shower/chores. Prior attendant experience is not necessary. I’m looking for someone to do this for at least 6 months, there is no end date planned.
COVID VACCINATION/BOOSTER IS REQUIRED. I am vaccinated and boosted, as is my housemate and my other caregivers. Masking is up to you, I keep various supplies available (masks, gloves, sanitizer, etc).
Initial interviews can be over Zoom or in-person (in San Leandro or Downtown Oakland). Even if we interview over Zoom we will still need to meet in person before confirming the hire. I am happy to text, set up a call, zoom, etc – but you will need to be able to reply and confirm interest over email.
Minimum Qualifications:
Vaccinated/boosted from COVID
I usually hire women, I am willing to consider and discuss the suitability of other gender identities for this position if requested
Within 20 miles of San Leandro
Valid driver’s license and the ability to drive a mini-van
Physically able to sit/kneel on the floor (because I’m on the floor)
Available for the times listed above
Reliable and punctual
Fluent in English, as all my instructions are verbal
Able to communicate by text and be responsive in case of emergencies, traffic, etc
Able to make minimum 6 month commitment
Preferred Qualifications:
In or near San Leandro

About me: I am a UCB grad (Go Bears!), also have a Master’s Degree, and work full-time in transportation consulting (currently about 75% from home) and support myself. I use an electric wheelchair outside of the house. I am organized, active, well-traveled, and have lots of interests. I am generally positive and easy going but I do expect a certain amount of professionalism (as in punctuality and reliability) from my people.
This job is a good fit for somebody who needs a little extra income. It’s also good entry-level experience either in personal attendant care or for a future health care career. This is private pay and you do not have to complete any paperwork. We can discuss the format of payment (usually Zelle/Venmo or check).
