We are a busy multi-physician ophthalmic retinal-surgical practice in Santa Rosa, CA.

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical billing procedures, coding, and insurance regulations. They will be responsible for accurately billing patients, insurance companies, and third-party payers, while ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Exposure to optometry/ophthalmology is highly desirable, but not required.

Duties as follows:

Financial preparation of individual patient account for upcoming appointments.

Prepare and submit electronic and paper claims to insurance companies and other third-party payers.

Follow up on outstanding claims, denials, and unpaid accounts receivable to ensure timely payment.

Resolve billing discrepancies and appeals, including researching and re-submitting denied claims.

Process electronic payments, adjustments, and refunds accurately and in accordance with company policies and

procedures.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare billing regulations, compliance requirements, and industry trends.

Collaborate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives to resolve billing-related inquiries and disputes.

Manage drug shipment inventory log.

Generate monthly patient balance reports and subsequent patient billing statements.

Processing, posting, and mailing refund checks.

Manage and support patients in enrolling for financial assistance through Copay Assistance programs.

Generate and review EFT online copayment and monthly reports.

Scanning billing documents

Not a remote position.

Full-time Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and occasional overtime

Pay range: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
