Description:
We are looking for a responsible adult to be a peaceful presence for our son, who
lives with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Our son, who is high functioning, can converse, but he does not initiate conversation. Typical activities/duties include morning walks, relaxing at home, light food preparation and cleaning, monitoring for safety, medication assistance, companionship, and other support duties as assigned.
The position is part-time (Saturday 8 AM to 1:30 PM, Sunday 9 AM – 1:30 PM - 10 hrs./wk.)
Additional hours as a substitute provider may occur intermittently.
Compensation:
$28 - 30 per hour to start.
As a part-time position, benefits are not included, beyond standard sick pay.
Requirements:
To be successful in this position, applicants must be able to perform the following:
Work legally in the State of California
Regularly walk/hike 4 – 5 miles, at times over uneven terrain
Provide reasonable support for meal preparation
Provide light household cleaning/maintenance (i.e. sweeping, laundry, and others)
Lift at least 25 #’s
Maintain a valid driver’s license and current auto insurance, and have a safe, reliable vehicle
Provide accurate and timely medication assistance
Communicate in clear, written and verbal English
Pass a fingerprint/background check
Provide respectful direction during the daily activities
Provide documentation of COVID 19 vaccinations
1st Aid/CPR Training preferred
Experience working with behavioral issues also preferred
