About the Position
The Sonoma County Department of Health Services is seeking a Medical Billing Account Technician to play an essential role in their financial operations and ensure accurate and timely processing of payments. As the Medical Billing Account Technician, you will handle payment claims, submit purchase order requisitions, and reconcile purchase order encumbrances. In addition, you will:
Create and maintain accurate payment ledgers
Identify and report potential shortfalls in contracts
Address payment-related inquiries
Review stale checks and process correction journals
Determine recoup-true-ups as identified
Ensure the efficient processing and reporting of financial transactions
As an ideal candidate for this role, you will have a background in accounting practices related to billing and claims, with the ability to handle complex issues while meeting deadlines. You will also demonstrate an ability to work well in a collaborative environment and possess many of the following:
Significant experience with billing, particularly in Medi-Cal, Medicare, and third-party billing
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including advanced features) and Word
Strong analytical skills
General medical billing training and experience
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
