Maintenance Worker (Temp to Perm) Port of Redwood City

The Maintenance Worker is responsible for the day to day maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings, landscaping, and other Port facilities and assets under the supervision of Facilities Supervisor.

All applicants will need to pass a rigorous background check, show proof of vaccination, and possess all credentials to work in the United States. Applicants will foster positive and effective working relationships and must be able understand and follow instructions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the operations and maintenance of Port facilities. Duties will relate to maintaining and operating mechanical and electrical equipment, attending training drills and exercises relating to hazardous materials and security operations, janitorial, limited landscaping, and other similar duties as assigned. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Cleans and maintains facilities, including storm drains, streets, rail tracks, parking lots, and public access areas in operating level.

Does preventive maintenance of facility equipment, including HVAC and office equipment, vehicles, emergency response equipment, and other Port assets.

Hauling debris, including trash, trees, landscaping, rocks, lumber, and other nuisance waste.

Cleaning Port office restrooms, including toilets, sinks, kitchen, trash, and any related office debris.

Landscaping including, digging, planting, mowing, edging and fertilizing lawns, repairing irrigation lines, clearing drains, and weed abatement.

Works with Port’s security guard to maintain high level of security operations.

Participate in training, drills, and exercises relating to Port security and emergency management.

Other duties as may be assigned.

Minimum of three to five years of progressive experience and responsibility in a maintenance field.

Disaster Service Workers:

All Port of Redwood City employees are designated Disaster Service Workers (DSW) through state law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the Port requires affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all DSW-related training as assigned, and to report for duty, remain on duty and/or return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.

Occasionally drive in dry and wet weather, usually during day light hours, but occasionally in the evening hours;

Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
