Summary: Lead the kitchen functions of the Senior Center Café including ensuring safe handling of food and equipment; ensuring food preparation is completed within the utmost safety; ensures cleanliness of kitchen; recruits, trains and supports volunteers for back and front of house; works in collaboration with Café Operations Manager and other staff and volunteers, and SASC staff and members.
Essential Job Duties:
Support kitchen and dining volunteers
Prepare, cook, package, and serve to-go and in-person meals
Maintain impeccable kitchen cleanliness and organization
Develop and support relationships with staff, volunteers, patrons and other stakeholders
Assist with ordering food and food supplies, assist with tracking program budget
Other duties, as assigned
Attend mandatory SASC events

Impeccable attention to detail (cleanliness, tidiness)
Impeccable customer service skills and patience, especially with the dynamics of seniors

Must know, understand, and exceed health department standards for food service
Ability to maintain accurate records, use computer, email and multi-line phone system

Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Shrink management /food waste reduction skills desired
Nutrition background
Leadership and volunteer management experience/skills
Qualifications:
Food Manager Certification is required for this position. Senior Center can reimburse for cost of certification.
High school or equivalent
Restaurant experience: 5 years preferred; 1 year minimum
Driver’s License
Must be able to successfully pass background check
