Cinnabar is a boutique, family-owned winery that reveres winemaking as a form of modern-day alchemy—the blending of science with a touch of nature's magic. Rooted in the Santa Cruz Mountains at our lively Saratoga and Gilroy Tasting Room, we partner with local growers to coax the transformation of the finest California grapes into distinct and delightfully approachable wines.
The Tasting Room Sales Associate is responsible for excellent customer service, sales, and maintenance of related records. Interacts with customers. Flexible and available, in regard to schedule, to work extra evening and weekend hours for special events. Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED
Must be at least 21 years of age
2 or more years of experience in the hospitality industry preferred, ideally at wineries/tasting rooms
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; enthusiastic, approachable, and respectful
Self-motivated team player with professional demeanor and appearance
Available to work weekends and special events as needed
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Strong customer service skills
Punctual, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Strong sales aptitude, familiar with POS systems, reliable working a cash register, and comfortable operating iPads
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sales and Customer Service
Provide the highest level of customer service while selling Cinnabar wine
Take initiative to engage with customers to build rapport, enroll new wine club members, and maximize sales
Prioritize customer experience and work to build customer loyalty and retention
Collaborate with sales team to reach monthly Tasting Room sales goals
Ensure customers are legally able to drink before serving them
Monitor customers’ level of intoxication and follow related Cinnabar Winery protocol
Pack orders and assist customers with packages, carrying them out to their car if needed
Make efforts to provide any necessary assistance to customers with special needs
Tasting Room Daily Operations
Help maintain a positive and professional environment by following Tasting Room protocol
Restock wine, merchandise, packaging materials, customer bags for wine, and bar crackers
Follow daily Tasting Room procedures, including opening and closing procedures as needed
Cooperate with team members to promote an efficient Tasting Room operation
Setup and put away patio furniture, umbrellas, and heaters as needed
Answer phone after no more than 3 rings in a polite and professional manner
Maintain an orderly, clean bar and work environment includes sweeping, tidying up bathroom and ensuring paper goods are well-stocked, changing light bulbs, taking out trash and recycling, dusting room and merchandise, and straightening displayed merchandise
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift, carry and otherwise move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, reach, push, pull, or walk for various lengths of time throughout the day
Ability to climb a ladder
Ability to utilize cash register to complete daily work responsibilities
Ability to operate telephone, PC desktop computer, and iPads
