Sommelier/Server for Michelin Star French Restaurant

Are you passionate about wine and fine dining? Do you have a knack for providing exceptional service in a high-end culinary environment? Chez TJ, a Michelin-starred French cuisine restaurant in Downtown Mountain View, California, is seeking a talented and experienced Sommelier who can also assist in serving tables.

Responsibilities:

- Provide detailed descriptions of wines, including flavor profiles and origins.

- Offer recommendations based on guests' preferences and budget.

- Work with our Wine Director on our wine list, assist with pouring wine pairings with our chef's innovative dishes to elevate the dining experience.

- Provide expert guidance and recommendations to guests, ensuring they have an unforgettable wine experience.

- Assist with wine inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and organizing bottles to optimize cellar storage.

- Assist in table service and food running, maintaining the highest standards of hospitality and professionalism.

- Collaborate with the Wine Director to create wine pairings for special tasting menus and events.

- Educate staff on wine service techniques, varietals, and regions to enhance their knowledge and confidence

Requirements:

- Proven experience as a sommelier in a fine dining establishment, preferably with knowledge of French wines.

- Certification from a recognized wine education program (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET) is a requirement.

- Extensive knowledge of different types of wines, regions, and vintages

- Strong understanding of food and wine pairing principles

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to provide exceptional customer service and create memorable experiences for guests

- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact graciously with guests and colleagues.

- Exceptional attention to detail and a passion for providing outstanding hospitality.

- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

- Experience in bartending or mixology is a plus

Hours:

20 – 30+ hours per week +tips

Tuesday-Saturday (We are closed Sundays and Mondays)

Starting as part-time but willingness to move to full-time

Pay:

Starting at $25/hour, plus share of tips
