Job Summary:
As a Lead Line Cook at Paradiso, you will play a key role in ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently and consistently delivers high-quality dishes. This is a position built to work hand in hand with the team, offering leadership and guidance to line cooks while supporting the overall success of the kitchen. You will be responsible for maintaining food quality, cleanliness, and timely service, all while fostering a collaborative and positive environment to help the kitchen thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a team of line cooks, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure proper execution of dishes.
- Manage the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food according to restaurant recipes and standards.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment and workstations are properly maintained and cleaned.
- Monitor the timing and coordination of the kitchen to ensure that food is delivered to the dining room in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ensure adherence to food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Assist in creating and updating the kitchen schedule, ensuring sufficient coverage for each shift.
- Handle special dietary requests and customize dishes as needed.
- Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth communication and service flow.
- Maintain consistent quality and presentation of food, ensuring high standards are met at all times.
- Address any issues or concerns that arise during service and resolve them promptly.
- Help train and mentor new kitchen staff.
Qualifications:
- At least 3-5 years of experience as a Line Cook or in a similar kitchen role.
- Bilingual - English/Spanish
- Proven experience leading or supervising a kitchen team.
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety standards, and kitchen equipment.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Passion for food and cooking, with a desire to contribute to a positive team culture.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Expediting experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment.
