About Onsen
Onsen is a Japanese inspired bathhouse and restaurant in the Tenderloin. Guests come to enjoy the communal bath followed by a seasonal set menu dinner. Our goal is to offer a third place for locals and visitors to unwind, connect, and experience something warm and memorable. We are looking for a manager who can support both sides of the business and help guide the daily rhythm of the space.
The Role
We are seeking a thoughtful and service driven manager who is comfortable leading the bathhouse and the restaurant. This role is a blend of guest experience, team support, and daily operations. You will help maintain a calm and organized environment, ensure smooth service, and work closely with ownership to uphold the quality and intention behind Onsen.
Responsibilities
Oversee daily operations of the bathhouse and restaurant
Lead and support the front of house team and communicate closely with the kitchen
Manage reservations, guest flow, and timing between bath and dinner
Maintain Onsen standards for cleanliness, presentation, and service
Welcome and guide guests, offer tea service, support special requests, and resolve issues with care
Assist with training, scheduling, and staff development
Monitor inventory, vendor orders, and supply needs
Help create systems that support efficiency and a calm guest experience
Maintain health and safety standards and ensure compliance across both areas
Support private events, pop ups, and special dinners
Qualifications
Experience in hospitality management or lead roles in restaurants, spas, or hotels
Strong leadership and communication skills with an even and steady presence
Comfort managing guest experience in an intimate and quiet environment
Understanding of restaurant operations and interest in the bathhouse experience
Creative problem solver with strong organizational skills
Ability to work calmly under pressure while maintaining hospitality
Commitment to consistency, cleanliness, and respectful team culture
