Ideal candidates should have several years of restaurant experience. Aspects of the position will include: Preparing and maintaining a clean and organized station, the ability to work a station during service and prep, knife skills required, and especially teamwork. Other aspects of the position will include:creating dishes with the chef, prepping and executing a pastry station, bread work, and confection making.
Candidates should come with a desire to learn about Japanese food, Sake, Wine, and Japanese culture. Opportunity for education and growth is available.

Restaurant Nisei is the premier Californian Japanese establishment in San Francisco. Started in 2019 as a pop-up, Nisei has evolved over several years before establishing its home in Russian hill at the previous La Folie restaurant.
Nisei is proud to source ingredients from the best local farms and purveyors in the Bay Area. Staff trips occur frequently to farms, distilleries, breweries, and wineries in order to further staff knowledge and establish honest relationships with each purveyor.
The format of the menu will be that of a tasting menu and the style of cuisine can be described as a modern innovative take on Japanese American cuisine with a base in Washoku (Japanese home-cooking).
Owner David Yoshimura (Californios, Ishikawa, WD50) is also a certified Sommelier and stresses the importance of being a well-rounded hospitality professional through hands on mentorship for each employee.
Next door, Nisei also owns a craft cocktail bar named Iris, which boasts an impressive cocktail and bar food program.
