Restaurant Nisei is a modern Japanese-Californian tasting menu restaurant in San Francisco. We focus on traditional Japanese fare with modern twists inspired by California’s seasonal/local bounty. We take pride in sourcing the highest quality local produce as well as an array of specialty ingredients imported directly from Japan. Our work is technique-driven, ingredient forward and pays homage to Chef David Yoshimura’s Japanese American heritage. We also pride ourselves on placing strong priority on our team members' personal growth, mental health, and work-life-balance.

We are currently looking for a driven and tenacious Pastry Chef de Partie to help expand our pastry program. Candidates will be working directly under our Executive Pastry Chef and will be expected to execute intermediate pastry techniques, and work the pastry station for service while adhering to Nisei’s set of quality standards. In this role, the pastry chef de partie will also undergo extensive training in traditional Japanese mochi confection (“Wagashi”), which is an integral part of Nisei’s pastry program.

Applicants are encouraged to have at least one year of fine dining cooking experience. A background in pastry/ patisserie is not required however is highly recommended.
