Maitri is a non-profit, 15-bed, licensed residential care facility providing dignified and personal care for people with AIDS/HIV and those in transition. Our clients face many challenges in addition to HIV but are resilient and spirited, just need support, including food stability.
Full-time position with benefits available for the right person, or willing to hire PT and per diems. Cooking experience/skills PLUS patience, compassion, and sense of humor needed. Food safety is of utmost importance for our immune-compromised clients. Room for creativity but be able to listen and learn our way of doing things regardless of your experience. Our food program has an excellent reputation and is non-institutional. We serve 3 meals a day for 15-25 people (residents, staff, volunteers and guests). You are able to work alone and as part of a team, multitask in the kitchen, be able to follow recipes in English and adapt them as needed, including do math to adjust qtys. Basic computer skills needed for email, timekeeping, and online required trainings. This is a unique setting. Experience preferred but willing to discuss if you feel otherwise qualified (love to cook, can hustle, improvise, follow instructions). Good for experienced cooks looking for something different, students, semi-retired, or maybe you enjoy cooking but don't want to do it full-time.
