About Workplace

Our Workplace business unit prepares and serves food for a variety of Bay Area companies and institutions. Ingredients are carefully selected from organic, local, independent farms - prioritizing purchasing from BIPOC and women-owned purveyors. Prepared to satisfy refined palettes and a diverse range of dietary sensitivities and preferences, our nourishing meals aim to delight employees. Our Workplace business unit offers multiple food program solutions to meet our clients' needs.

Position Overview

The Line Cook will support the Lead Line Cook and Sous Chef in all breakfast, lunch, and dinner prep/execution. Additionally line cook supports in overseeing, all functions of Prep Cooks and Dishwashers at the commissary kitchen. This role will assist in supporting the team in prep and production, inventory systems and storage, time and temperature logs, and opening/closing checklists. The right candidate will be able to work in a fast paced environment and prepare high-quality meals that meet Chefs exact specifications.

Responsibilities

-Daily execution of all hot/cold food prep, hot line, and grab & go production

-Assist with execution of lunch daily

-Execute dishes of multiple cuisines from start to finish, with a sense of urgency

-Assist in the receiving and proper storage of all orders/inventory

-Primary lead on tasking and completing opening and closing checklists

-Ensure time, temperature, and labeling standards are achieved

-Participate in daily staff meal production

Qualifications & Requirements

-2+ years experience in a formal kitchen environment with a passion for food & people

-Experience cooking a daily changing menu with a sense of urgency

-Excellent understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills

-Positive attitude, strong work ethic and professionalism, communication and patience

-Able to ask for help, and contribute to problem solving

-Strong written and verbal communication skills

-Fun to be around

-Extremely organized and disciplined with ability to multi-task

-Attendance and punctuality is required

-Self-starter, self-sufficient problem solver and confident in ability to complete tasks start-to-finish

-Strong grasp of kitchen safety and sanitation

-Heavy Lifting of boxes containing produce/meat - Able to lift 50+lbs

-Basic Food Handler Certification

-High Volume Production Experience (preferred)

Schedule & Expectations

Typical schedules are Monday through Friday with hours dependent on the service. You are responsible for managing your schedule, based on your shift availability, with your supervisor.

Shift details:

Monday to Friday, with morning shifts starting between 4am and 6am depending on service and client needs.
