Kuma Sushi + Sake is hiring a part time position behind the sushi bar at our Valencia Street location, Kuma on Valencia.
We are hiring for Fri, Sat, and Sun nights. 5pm-11pm. Appx 18hr/week.
Qualifications for Apprentice Sushi Chef
- No listed qualifications. We will train this position.
- Previous experience in a kitchen or sushi bar would be beneficial, but not required.
- Heavily prioritized qualities include: cleanliness, organization, time management skills, note taking, and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Compensation:
Compensation starts at $20/hr for an apprentice position, but if you have previous experience, we will consider that in the initial offer. After an initial interview, we usually ask applicants to do a paid trail shift, so we can observe your skill level and see where you fit in behind our bar before discussing a growth timeline.
All sushi bar positions also receive their eligible share of tips at the end of each night on top of normal wages and benefits. Usually $80-$120 in tips per night, making total compensation approximately $35-$40/hr.
