Position Overview:
The Sous Chef / Assistant Kitchen Manager / Lead Cook plays a key role in ensuring smooth kitchen operations, maintaining high-quality food standards, and supporting the kitchen team. This position requires experience in high-volume kitchens, familiarity with kitchen management best practices, and the ability to effectively communicate in both English and Spanish.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the "wheel" in the kitchen, coordinating and overseeing food preparation and service to ensure efficiency and quality.
Assist in managing kitchen staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
Maintain food safety and hygiene standards, ensuring compliance with all health regulations.
Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies and minimizing waste.
Lead by example, fostering a positive and productive kitchen environment.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in high-volume, fast-paced restaurants.
Strong knowledge of kitchen management best practices.
Ability to effectively coordinate and communicate with the kitchen team.
Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred).
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Culinary training or certification is a plus but not required.
