Summary: The Front Desk Host / Concierge will handle the typical front desk administrative functions related to guest check-in, check-out, billing, and phone operations, while NEVER making the guest experience feel transactional. They will exude warmth and welcome to guests and delight in assisting guests with a wide array of concierge inquiries, requests, and, yes, even complaints (though we hope to prevent those!).

The Host / Concierge will treat each visitor as a guest in their own home, with their authentic charm and personality shining, backed by an element of professionalism and focus on the guests’ expressed and unexpressed needs. We cross train all of our hosts to serve our daily breakfast, so we can maintain a seamless guest experience if one of our breakfast servers is out sick or on vacation. Our intimate team is full of individuals who come together and help out where needed to make sure our guests are well taken care of.

Skills and qualifications:

-First and foremost, a natural and exemplary service mindset – a desire to wow guests and make positive memories our guests will treasure for a long time

-Previous customer service, hospitality and / or retail experience (will train the right candidate)

-Comfort with honing and then applying decision-making skills, applying empowerment to ensure optimal experiences for our guests and avoid those “let me ask the manager to get back to you” moments

-A personal passion for delighting with care and creativity, and solving problems

-Computer proficiency and literacy, though prior experience with MEWS PMS or the property POS are not required; experience managing credit card transactions and email applications preferred

-Ability to learn web-based software and analytical concepts quickly

-Multi-tasking capabilities; ability to prioritize a variety of tasks

-Strong communication skills, both oral and written (including by telephone)

-Ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives with minimal supervision; proactive

-Interpersonal awareness, relationship management, and intuition skills

-Strong organizational skills, including exceptional attention to detail and consistent follow-through

-Flexible scheduling availability for various shift hours, days of week (including weekends), and holidays; willingness to assist in covering additional shifts as needed

-Ability to speak more than one language preferred

-Familiarity with local area and attractions preferred

-Ability to complete physical duties of the job, including but not limited to: sit or stand for extended periods of time; push/pull at least 100 lbs. and lift at least 50 lbs.

-Legally authorized to work in the United States

-Flexible, positive attitude and willingness to complete a set of tasks that may change daily

-A commitment to our culture of inclusivity and respect – toward both guests and colleagues

Schedule & hours per week: As noted above, there is pretty much no such thing as a “set schedule” in hospitality, so we request your flexibility and willingness to work different shifts, including weekends and holidays. That being said, we will always endeavor to optimize the schedule to best suit the needs of the team. We also aim to provide a commitment of full-time hours to ALL staff (unless specifically

hired under a part-time agreement).
