ABOUT GOLD PALM & MOONGLOW

Gold Palm & Moonglow are two brand new food and beverage concepts under one roof from the owners of Bar Shiru, opening in September 2024. Gold Palm will be a friendly and upbeat neighborhood bar and restaurant serving “Pakistani party food” and upscale bar bites. Moonglow is a “secret bar” through an unmarked door in Gold Palm, serving high-end cocktails and a few food items from the same menu.

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Kitchen Manager to join our opening team. This is a rare opportunity to help build, staff and operationalize an efficient, clean and sustainable kitchen, from top to bottom. The right candidate will be ready to join us no later than the week of July 22nd.

JOB SUMMARY & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, detailed as follows:

Oversee all aspects of daily kitchen operations, ensuring the timely and efficient preparation of all menu items in accordance with the creative direction and quality standards outlined by the General Manager and Creative Director.

Maintain a clean, organized kitchen in accordance with all relevant health code regulations. This includes the preparation of opening/closing procedures, coordination with relevant maintenance vendors, overseeing equipment repairs and managing health code inspections.

Hire and manage kitchen staff, including onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.

Manage all sourcing and ordering for kitchen operations, consistently working to optimize financial performance, COGS and Gold Palm/Moonglow’s sustainability goals.

In all cases above, coordinate and collaborate with the Beverage Director and FOH Manager on key overlapping aspects of operations, such as prep & ingredient sourcing for house cocktails, opening/closing procedures, FOH/BOH staff interaction and coordination, etc.

Develop and implement processes to minimize food waste and control costs.

Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction.

Handle any customer complaints or issues related to food quality or kitchen service.

Assist in menu planning and development, including creating new dishes and specials.

JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

This is a full time role with with an expectation of working during weekend service and any other shifts deemed necessary by the GM to ensure high quality, efficient food prep and operations.

Proven experience as a Kitchen Manager, Sous Chef, or similar role in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment.

In-depth knowledge of kitchen operations, food preparation, and culinary techniques.

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.

Knowledge of health and safety regulations and food safety standards.

Basic understanding of inventory management and cost control.

Experience with South Asian cooking techniques and spices strongly preferred, but not required.

Culinary degree or relevant certification is a plus.
