Does your color affect how your skin absorbs nicotine?

Researchers at UCSF are studying how skin color affects how people absorb and break down nicotine through their skin. We want to know if darker skin color protects people or adds to their risk.

We need people with light skin and people with dark skin to participate in this study. You may qualify if your skin is so light that you sunburn very easily OR if your skin is brown to dark brown and you never or almost never sunburn.

You must be a nonsmoker, 18-50 years old, able to perform moderate exercise, and have no serious health problems.

The study requires 4 visits to the UCSF Community and Clinical Research Center, located next to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. The first visit will be 3 hours. The second will be 7 hours and the third and fourth will take less than an hour. All visits are scheduled on weekdays, 8 AM-5 PM.

Payment for the complete study will be $450.00.

If you are interested, and think you may be eligible, please reply to this ad and a description of the study will be sent to you.
