OAKLAND/BERKELEY: Doggy Lama Pet Care is an award-winning, positive-reinforcement (R+)-oriented pet care business for East Bay (Oakland, Berkeley, Emeryville, and Alameda) animals and their guardians. We provide group trail hikes, buddy walks, (smaller groups in the neighborhood,) and private dog walking services. We also provide puppy playgroup classes, boarding, and cat care. We focus on safety, communication, and fun!
We walk dogs that are carefully vetted based on individual temperament. Walkers have immediate response and support from our office for any issues with clients/pets or emergencies. Dedicated back-up staff will cover for you when you’re sick or go on vacation. You will have paid on-the-job training and continuing education through the best positive-reinforcement dog trainers in the Bay Area.

Position Requirements & Compensation
We are currently hiring for one group hike Monday through Friday and one private walk on Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays, for an average of 20 hours per week.
Opportunities are available to add on more hours with another group walk or private walk, not to exceed 30 hours weekly.
$22-$24/hour (starting rate based on experience, additional bonuses and gratuity may be available). $1800-$2000/month
Regular employee reviews with potential for compensation increases based on performance
Up to 60 hours per year of paid time off to use for sick, vacation, or personal time
Retirement savings (401K program)
Reimbursement for business mileage paid at the federal rate of .65/mile
Time and a half pay for evenings/weekend and double time for holiday walks
$10 monthly cell phone stipend
Employee must live in the East Bay–in or very near to Oakland or Berkeley.
The ideal candidate:
Is an honest, patient, and enthusiastic person with a strong understanding of safety and time management
Has previous professional or volunteer experience with animals is preferred, but a positive attitude and a desire to learn are just as important
Enjoys an active work environment, working independently and outdoors regardless of weather conditions.
Has above-average verbal and written communication skills to communicate with staff, the general public, clients, and the office.
Has a positive "can-do" attitudeextra consideration for those with professional social media experience, the ability to change a flat tire, or jump a car battery.
Has a small SUV or hatchback in which they’re willing to transport dogs
