Greetings!
I'm hiring for a personal care attendant for four day shifts (approx. 9a - 5p) per week, approx. 30 to 35 hours/week.
The work is physically active, and primarily consists of assisting me with physical care associated with my disability. Given the personal nature of the work, it requires a body positive attitude. The work environment is friendly to women and non-binary folks. Applicants must be comfortable movers. It's ideal for folks who are in good shape and appreciate bodies in all of our forms.
While no experience in this particular kind of work is needed, strong candidates must have a demonstrated history of good judgment and responsibility. It's a physical position, so applicants must be comfortable squatting, bending, lifting and moving in general. Candidates must be a team player with demonstrated experience multi-tasking, with clear communication and time management skills. A friendly and compassionate personality and being fairly logical are definitely helpful. To do this work a person must be fairly fluent in English.
The position is a good fit for sharp people seeking an entrance into health related fields, dancers, community activists, students, etc.
All applicants must be vaccinated and engage in COVID prevention practices.
This is a long-term position, and includes shifts through holidays. Ideally applicants live in or close to Berkeley.
