Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Physical Education Instructor to lead our after-school Judo program for young children (ages 5-12). While Judo experience is not required, the ideal candidate must have a strong background in physical education and classroom management, with the ability to engage and instruct groups of young children effectively. This role includes both hands-on coaching and weekly administrative hours for lesson planning, team coordination, and learning Judo methodology to ensure effective instruction. The instructor will work closely with our Judo coaches to design engaging classes that prioritize movement, coordination, and skill-building while introducing fundamental Judo concepts.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage after-school Judo classes, ensuring an engaging and structured learning environment.
Adapt lesson plans to suit different age groups and learning styles, focusing on movement, coordination, and fundamental skills.
Collaborate with KaizenKan Judo instructors to integrate Judo methodology into lesson plans.
Dedicate a few hours per week to lesson planning, reviewing class progress, and refining teaching strategies.
Provide a safe, fun, and positive atmosphere for students while reinforcing discipline and respect.
Communicate with parents and KaizenKan staff about student progress and behavior as needed.
Maintain a clean and organized training area before and after each class.
Qualifications
Degree, certification or 4+ years of experience in Physical Education or a related field.
Experience teaching and managing groups of young children (ages 5-8) is a must.
Strong understanding of movement, motor skill development, and child engagement strategies.
Ability to collaborate with martial arts instructors and adapt to new teaching methodologies.
Enthusiastic, patient, and committed to fostering a positive learning environment.
Basic fitness level to demonstrate movements and actively engage with students.
Bonus Qualifications (Preferred but Not Required)
Prior experience in martial arts, gymnastics, or movement-based activities.
CPR/First Aid Certification.
Compensation
Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
Includes paid administrative hours for lesson planning and collaboration with instructors.
