Star Academy is a non-profit, non-public school, located in San Rafael, CA, serving students with learning differences in grades 1-12, seeking a Credentialed Physical Education Teacher. Star Academy provides a comprehensive, individualized education program for students with learning differences. Star Academy's mission is to help students experience academic success through a multisensory approach.

Our students face mild to moderate challenges such as dyslexia, executive functioning deficits, dyscalculia, auditory processing, dysgraphia, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Elementary, middle, and high school students all benefit from Star's calm, nurturing, and supportive environment, which is conducive to learning. High school students earn their high school diploma or certificate of completion and prepare to transition to college and/or other pursuits. We are seeking a patient, kind, and thoughtful educator to lead physical education classes for grades 1-12.

Candidates must have the following qualifications:

P.E. Credential or Mild/Moderate Disabilities Credential, Adaptive P.E. experience preferred.

Undergraduate college degree.

Two years experience working with students with learning differences in an educational setting.

Knowledge of current CDE P.E. standards, grades 1-12.

Strong classroom management skills.

Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Duties will include but may not be limited to:

Planning, preparing, and delivering physical education classes to students in grades 1-12.

Adapting teaching methods and materials to meet varying student needs and interests.

Collaborating with Occupational Therapists to address IEP goals and individual student needs.

Supervising students during snack break, recess, lunch and transitions.

Participating in full staff and team meetings.
