Helios is an innovative, independent school community for gifted learners in grades K-8 located
in Sunnyvale, CA. Our faculty members collaborate to create and continuously improve an
exceptional program tailored to the needs of our gifted population. This program is distinctive in
how it weaves together interdisciplinary project-based learning, placement-based mathematics,
social-emotional learning, opportunities for students to direct their own learning, and
connections to issues in the wider world.
We boast a happy, committed faculty that enjoys teaching in a collaborative environment where
they are respected and empowered. Helios teachers are professionals of high caliber who are
creative, innovative, and have a growth mindset. They are experienced in progressive/
constructivist education and understand that the best education starts with the child.
Helios School seeks a motivated, passionate, and well-rounded teacher to join our teaching
team as a co teacher in our makerspace, the Imagine Lab (I-Lab). The I-Lab teacher’s
day-to-day work will be coordinated with the other teacher and include providing direct and
supportive teaching engagements to K-8 Helios students during weekly makerspace classes.
The I-Lab teacher will also be tasked with common makerspace equipment operation,
maintenance, repair, and general classroom space organization duties. They will undertake
project, lesson, and curriculum development, contributing their creative ideas and maker
abilities.
In addition to supporting all I-Lab activities, this person will be a member of the school
community, taking on duties outside of the classroom, such as recess and lunchtime support
duties, outdoor education assignments, and subbing in other classes, as needed.
