Marin Catholic is currently reviewing resumes for a Varsity Men's Basketball Head Coach starting with the 25-26 season.
At Marin Catholic, coaches play a vital role in promoting the school’s Catholic mission: lead students to Jesus Christ. Coaches are responsible for guiding student-athletes in their spiritual, personal, and athletic growth, helping them achieve a high level of skill while instilling values such as discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
The Varsity Men’s Head Basketball Coach will be primarily responsible for coaching the Varsity team, while overseeing a positive and competitive environment across the entire Men’s Basketball program, including the Junior Varsity and Freshman teams. This role will ensure that all aspects of the program align with the Marin Catholic mission.
The Head Coach will:
-Cultivate a team culture that reflects and aligns with Marin Catholic’s Catholic values.
-Lead by example with high standards of sportsmanship and respectful conduct towards opposing teams, spectators, and officials.
-Ensure all student-athletes adhere to the Student Code of Conduct as outlined in the Marin Catholic Parent/Student Handbook.
Key Responsibilities:
-Develop student-athletes’ individual skill sets, techniques, and game strategies to enhance overall team performance.
-Recruit, mentor, and oversee assistant and lower level coaches.
-Oversee team scheduling for all levels, budget allocation, awards, and uniform distribution/collections.
-Attend all MC Athletic Department and MCAL meetings as required.
-Work closely with MC Athletic Trainer and Strength & Conditioning Coach to promote student-athlete health and safety.
-Maintain open communication with student-athletes, parents, athletic department, administration, teachers, and other coaches.
Requirements:
-Practicing Catholics in good standing is preferred. All applicants must support and uphold Marin Catholic’s mission.
-Playing experience and/or knowledge of basketball.
-Prior coaching experience, preferably at the high school level or higher.
-Ability or willingness to obtain all NCS/CIF Coaching Certifications:
-NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Education Course
-Concussion in Sports Course
-Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training
-Heat Acclimatization Course
-First Aid and CPR
-Strong written and verbal communication with student-athletes, parents, and MC Athletic Administration.
-Commitment to creating a positive individual and team experience.
-Advanced knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and techniques.
-Ability to teach, advocate and model Christian and educational values to student-athletes.
-Available for afternoon, evening, and weekend practices and games during season (October - March) and off season, as needed.
This is a non-exempt (hourly) position, starting at $16.50/hour. All hours must be approved by the Athletic Department. Marin Catholic provides sick time benefits in accordance with California state law.
