Performing Arts Academy of Marin (PAAM) is seeking enthusiastic and caring dance instructors to join our enrichment team! This role focuses on teaching age-appropriate dance technique and choreography to TK–1st grade students during the school year. Using a set curriculum, you’ll help students explore movement, learn the structure of a dance class, and prepare a short performance for families.
What You’ll Do:
- Create a warm, inspiring, and inclusive learning environment.
- Teach dance fundamentals including line spacing, across-the-floor exercises, and warm-ups.
- Follow our set curriculum and prepared choreography to ensure consistency of instruction across school sites.
- Learn and rehearse a brief routine to be shared with parents on the final day of class.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dance space.
- Encourage students to participate at their own comfort level while fostering confidence and joy in movement.
- Model and uphold PAAM’s mission and values in every class.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with young children. Prior experience as a dance teacher is ideal, but not required.
- A background in dance as a student or teacher.
- A friendly, patient, and professional demeanor.
- Stellar punctuality and dependable transportation to travel between schools.
- Ability to work independently while following a set curriculum.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive, encouraging environment for all students.
Details:
- Hours: 13–15 hours per week while school is in session (additional hours may be available).
- Compensation: Competitive hourly rate, based on experience.
- Upon hiring, must complete a background check, LiveScan fingerprinting, and Mandated Reporter training provided by PAAM.
