Schedule: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. (with potential to add Wednesdays)
About the Program
We are an after‑school program serving preschool‑aged children (2–4 years old). Our mission is to provide a nurturing, engaging environment that cultivates early childhood development and fosters curiosity. We teach foundational “phonics and reading skills” — social‑emotional awareness, independence and curiosity — to help children flourish. Instruction is offered in both Mandarin and English to support bilingual development.
Role Overview
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support the lead teacher by implementing age‑appropriate activities and engaging children during playtime
. You’ll help maintain classroom materials and records
, communicate with parents, and ensure a safe, inclusive learning space
. This freelance role offers growth potential into more responsibilities over time.
Responsibilities
Assist the lead teacher in delivering educational activities and lesson plans in both Mandarin and English for ages 2–4
Supervise children during play; encourage positive interactions and help children learn
Prepare classroom materials, organize resources and support daily operations
Monitor each child’s progress and maintain basic records
communicate updates to parents.
Foster a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for all children
Use your business background to assist with program logistics (e.g., inventory management or simple financial tracking).
Support simple social‑media communications (e.g., posting updates or event announcements).
Optional: incorporate guitar or other musical experiences into activities—this is a bonus skill, not a requirement.
Required Qualifications
Language: Fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.
Experience: Minimum of 2years working in a preschool or childcare setting with children aged 2‑4.
Certification: Has licensing requirements and current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
Background: Coursework in early childhood education or related field; business background helpful.
Transportation: Must be able to commute reliably to LosAltos for the scheduled hours.
Preferred (Bonus) Qualifications
Experience playing guitar or another musical instrument.
Tech‑savvy: Comfortable using technology and social media; able to help with digital classroom tools and simple online content creation.
Understanding of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education
