Axis Community Health is a nonprofit community health center that is growing rapidly in response to the exciting changes that are occurring in the healthcare arena. Axis Community Health has served the Pleasanton, Livermore, and Dublin area since 1972. Our services include medical care, mental health counseling, behavioral health, and WIC nutrition services for Tri- Valley residents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Check patient insurance eligibility before booking an appointment.

Enroll patients in insurance plans or county programs through One-E-App and CALHEERS.

Have complete knowledge and understanding of clinic operations and procedures.

Provide outstanding customer service to clients and to ensure a positive image for Axis Community Health.

Participate in staff meetings, attend other meeting and training events as assigned.

May be required to perform other related duties, responsibilities and special projects as assigned.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

Demonstrates ability to work with people of diverse background in respect of race, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation and disability.

Prefer current knowledge of Medi-Cal and various state health insurance programs.

Ability to work a flexible schedule.

Bilingual in Spanish and English is required.

Excellent time management skills to meet goals and objectives.

Dependable with the ability to multi-task effectively.

Able to conduct yourself and answer patient inquiries in a courteous and professional manner.

Strong analytical, employee relations, and interpersonal skills.

Excellent writing, business communication, editing, and proofreading skills.

Ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with persons of all backgrounds.

Proactive, self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment as well as on a team with the ability to exercise sound independent judgment.

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and a professional demeanor and must positively represent the organization at all times.

Ability to establish and maintain positive and professional working relationships.

Ability to organize and set priorities and be able to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.

Must be able to be at work regularly and on time.

Must be a dynamic self-starter with demonstrated ability to work independently or in a group setting.

A can-do attitude with attention to detail.

Ability to type a minimum of 35 WPM with minimal errors.

Must have good computer skills using Microsoft Office and the ability to use Axis departmental systems.

Must be able to use office equipment (i.e. copier, fax, etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum one (1) year experience with medical office duties and customer service experience.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Work is normally performed in a typical office work environment. While performing the responsibilities of this position, the individual is required to have ambulatory skills sufficient to visit various parts of the organization. Requires the ability to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30lbs. Requires sitting and standing for extensive periods of time, operating a computer keyboard, telephone and other equipment for extended periods of time. Travel to other Axis health centers and other local travel will be required. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
