Staff Accountant (On-Site, No Remote Work) - Full Time / Non-Exempt / Benefits

Position Summary:

The full-time Staff Accountant serves as the day-to-day accounting interface with members, staff, volunteers and guests. This position has medical/dental/vision benefits, paid vacation/sick/holiday time off and retirement/403(b). This position is on-site only (no remote work), 5 business days per week. Annual salary: $70,000-$75,000 DOE. Please apply by submitting a resume with cover email/letter. No phone calls please.

The Staff Accountant position’s responsibilities include but are not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, HR and benefits administration, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of applicable entries and assisting the Controller in the month-end and year-end close of the Organization’s financial reporting; proactive identification and implementation of process improvements; other duties as assigned.

Essential Experience and Qualifications:

At least five years of current and continuous accounting experience with QuickBooks, including specifically accounting for temporarily restricted funding.

Ability to learn how to work with a CRM database.

Experience with payroll processing and benefits administration using a payroll software program.

Competency with Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Word.

Ability to independently problem-solve when appropriate, and good judgment about when to consult with the Controller.

Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

Excellent time management skills.

Experience working with a staff team.

Superb customer service skills.

Comfortable working with parents/members to resolve problems and maintain an atmosphere of approachability.

Undergraduate degree or comparable education or experience.

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Valid and active California Driver’s License.

Must pass a background check.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

Experience with CRM databases.

Accounting degree or QuickBooks certification.

Non-profit experience.

Competency with Microsoft Office suite.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires that one have the ability to comfortably use a keyboard and mouse. Must be able to sit in a room with compact fluorescent or LED lighting.
