Looking for a friendly and accountable Accounting Assistant to help expanding bookkeeping and accounting business in Downtown Novato. We are expanding quickly and need to add a great team member to help with various bookkeeping and accounting tasks for several clients.

This position is responsible for entering, categorizing, processing and preparing client data in a timely, friendly, and professional manner.

The ideal candidate holds a B.S. in Accounting (or relevant degree), or a combination of experience for equivalence. The ideal candidate also has strong attention to detail, and superb communication and organization skills.

Responsibilities:

- Assist in updating client transactions weekly, categorizing and reviewing financial statements for accuracy

- Payroll processing for various clients using Gusto, following processes and procedures as outlined

- Accounts Receivable for various clients, including preparing invoices, sending invoices on client behalf, matching payments to invoices, and reconciling aging report

- Accounts Payable for various clients, including entering invoices, preparing payments, and document management

- Assist in the monthly close process including reconciling bank and credit card accounts, as well as balance sheet accounts

- Maintain accounting controls and document management

- Special projects as needed

Qualifications/Skills:

- BS in Accounting or relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred

- QBO and Microsoft Excel experience required (and Xero experience is a plus!)

- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills

- Ability to take direction and work independently, while also asking questions when needed

- Friendly and timely communication

- Experience working with small business owners is also a plus
