San Francisco Yacht Club

Founded in 1869, the San Francisco Yacht Club maintains one of the country's finest yachting facilities.

Compensation and Benefits: The hourly range is $32 - $36 per hour (D.O.E.); we provide paid time off, paid holidays, healthcare benefits, and a 401(k) with employer matching contributions. The general schedule is Wednesday-Sunday.

Summary of Position:

As Junior Accountant, this position supports the Controller by performing primary accounting duties including AR/AP, general accounting, month-end close and generation of reports. As HR Administrator, this position manages HR functions such benefits, policies, compliance, onboarding, and offboarding. As Member Services Administrator, this position provides administrative support to several Club Committees including Membership and Harbor.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accounts Receivable/Payables

Reconciles and posts daily credit card sales and daily sales and prepares bank deposits.

Manage Accounts Payable processes through the accounting system. Ensure Vendor Credits issued as needed.

On a daily basis, posts member charges including monthly dues, food and beverage, and events to member accounts.

On a monthly basis, reconciles member accounts and sends out statements to members; responds to member statement questions / concerns.

Manages A/R Delinquency Tickler File and Late Notice mailings.

Creates monthly report for Finance Committee and Board of Directors.

Issues 1099’s.

Member Services

Provides a high level of service by communicating with members and answering questions regarding their monthly fees, charges, payments, and access to the Club’s website and app.

Coordinates the prospective new member application process.

Creates monthly report for Membership Committee.

Prepares new member welcome packages; sets up new member accounts and enters initiation fees; interacts with new members informing them of your role and how you can assist them.

Maintains accurate member records and files.

Provide regularly updated member roster to communications team.

Maintains Insurance and Ownership documentation of Member boats in Harbor.

Communicates member status changes to Harbormaster.

Creates monthly report for Harbor Committee.

Human Resources Administration

Works closely with departmental managers to ensure proper on-boarding of new employees.

Performs on-boarding process for new hires, including ensuring all required forms are completed, policies are reviewed, employees are set up in payroll, and benefits are explained, and enrollment managed.

Maintains personnel files and ensures general privacy and HIPAA laws are followed.

Assists with employee benefits administration: including open enrollment, unemployment insurance and Workers Compensation insurance.

Performs quarterly employee roster audit to ensure proper status, benefits, accruals for all staff

Ensures employees maintain valid required credentials, including food handler certification, responsible beverage service, and sexual harassment training.

Other General Duties and Behaviors

Maintains office equipment and supplies.

Maintains organization and retention of accounting files.

Maintains general office orderliness and appearance.

Complete all other duties as assigned by the Controller and/or General Manager.

QUALITIES, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting or Business, or equivalent

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (Intermediate knowledge MS Suite)

Experience with accounting software is required (Northstar software, for clubs, is a plus)

Dependable and responsible with confidential information

Demonstrated ability to problem solve using good judgement

Excellent organizational skills; detail oriented

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Able to prioritize conflicting demands quickly and appropriately

Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentations)

Pleasant personality, strong customer service orientation

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, you will be primarily working at a desk / computer

You may be required to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
