Description We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Medical Scheduler in Santa Monica, California. This role centers around administrative duties in the healthcare industry, where you will be playing an integral part in coordinating patient appointments and ensuring smooth operations within our Cancer Center. Responsibilities: Schedule appointments for patients, ensuring an organized and efficient process. Verify and obtain authorizations for cancer imaging and surgeries from insurance companies. Maintain open lines of communication with patients and insurance companies regarding authorizations and insurance coverage. Answer incoming calls, addressing inquiries and scheduling appointments as needed. Conduct patient check-outs post-visit, ensuring a seamless process. Maintain proficiency in the usage of the Electronic Medical Records system, EPIC, for accurate patient record keeping. Interact with patients both over the phone and in-person during check-out procedures. Ensure the maintenance of accurate customer credit records. Monitor customer accounts and take necessary action when needed. Process customer credit applications with accuracy and efficiency. Requirements Proven experience in an administrative assistance role. Familiarity with medical insurance verification procedures. Proficiency in patient scheduling, ensuring efficient and effective appointment management. Demonstrable experience in surgery scheduling, coordinating operative procedures and related logistics. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency in using scheduling software and databases. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think on your feet. High level of discretion and confidentiality due to sensitive nature of medical information. Knowledge of medical terminology would be advantageous.
