Beautiful 18-acre Santa Ynez private ranch estate seeks Groundskeeper committed to low impact, sustainable landscaping, and facilities management. This is a full-time opportunity with live on-site accommodation and includes full benefits - medical, dental, vision and 401k. The Groundskeeper’s residence is a private studio apartment, newly built in the fully renovated barn.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the overall care and maintenance of extensive ranch acreage including landscape, turf, ornamental plants, rose garden, chef’s garden, shrubs, and olive and citrus trees
Plan and manage the planting of new vegetation, the replacement, spraying, pruning and trimming of trees and shrubs, the preparation of soil plant beds for aesthetically pleasing arrangements and tending to high stress areas
Provides detailed annual plan for the various property levels and the designated landscaping areas
Oversee and manage ranch infrastructure, including buildings, roads, and utilities, and maintain onsite necessary tools and equipment
Supervises and participates in the application and recording of chemical applications (fertilizers and pesticides) in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
Develops annual operating budget and plans for maintenance and capital improvement projects.
Inspect irrigation system regularly to ensure it is working properly; repair as needed Hire and supervise outside labor and vendors when required
Safely operate vehicles onsite
Perform basic security and surveillance
Schedule maintenance practices around House operations to maximize efficiency and minimize disruption to Owners
Be on call for emergencies large and small
Required skills and experience:
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as a Landscape Superintendent or 1st Assistant
Knowledge of management and maintenance of landscaping, including land, garden, tree care and irrigation systems
Competence in basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical and operating, maintaining, and repairing ranch equipment
Possess proficient computer skills required for financial reporting and control of operations, including use of Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent communication skills and fluency in English
Must pass a full background check and have a clean driving record
Must be able to legally work within the United States; strong preference for someone living locally or in California
Covid vaccination may be required
Start Date and Move-In will be Spring 2024
Compensation: Base Salary $75,000.00 to $80,000.00 per year and includes onsite studio apartment, all utilities, medical, dental and vision insurance, and 401k match.
