North American Fire Hose (NAFH), a worldwide leader in the manufacturing of fire hoses, has an opening for a Quality Control Assistant at our main office located in Santa Maria.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform inspections of raw materials, purchased parts, in-process parts and finished products according to NAFH criteria using standard physical, mechanical and/ or electrical measurements.
Work with filed inspectors from UL and FM.
Accurately document the results of the inspections and testing.
Maintain all controlled document files and test records in a timely and accurate manner.
Inspect all areas of manufacturing to ensure quality standards are met.
Evaluate Customer Returns and report results.
Coordinate calibration of all test equipment and fixtures.
Participate in the construction and/or revision of specs for cost effectiveness.
Assist in the writing and updating inspection procedures and checklists.
Observe and participate in production processes to identify and evaluate problems in order to make initial recommendations for possible corrective action.
Report, document and identify root cause of unusual production circumstances.
Maintain a safe, well organized and clean work environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Training, Skills and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree preferred.
Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
Quality Control experience is preferred, but not required.
Demonstrate ability to multi-task and excel in a highly timeline driven fast-paced environment.
Working knowledge of measurement instruments.
General proficiency of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time, and occasionally lift up to 80 lb.
