Job Summary:The Project Engineer plays a crucial role in providing advanced support and operates independently across various projects. This position holds responsibility for ensuring the successful delivery and timely completion of capital projects within established budgets.Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the construction of multiple capital projects for regulated utilities, demonstrating a high level of proficiency in project management principles.
Work autonomously on smaller projects as needed, showcasing the ability to manage and drive initiatives to successful outcomes.
Coordinate both internal and external resources to efficiently execute assigned capital projects, balancing the requirements of operations and customer service functions and adhering to project timelines.
Prioritize capital projects within the designated area of responsibility based on strategic goals and project urgency.
Prepare, monitor, and report on project schedules and budgets, taking corrective actions when necessary to ensure adherence to project parameters.
Monitor and implement quality control and inspection activities on assigned projects, taking corrective actions as required to maintain high-quality standards.
RequirementsMinimum Qualifications:
Two years of construction management experience on public works or public utility projects.
Knowledge and experience using project management software, particularly MS Project, is preferred.
Experience with PowerPlan fixed assets software and JD Edwards accounting software package is a plus.
Strong oral and written communication, as well as analytical skills
Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, electrical, or environmental engineering OR a bachelor’s degree in construction management or a closely related field.
Registration as a Professional Engineer in the state of assignment OR Project Management certification by the Project Management Institute (PMI) or the American Academy of Project Management (AAPM) strongly preferred.
