Under direct supervision of a licensed staff member the Patient Care Support Aide provides direct patient care for adults in a locked psychiatric unit setting.

The Patient Care Support Aide observes patients' behavior listens to their concerns and records their condition; gathers information monitors patient behavior and leads patients in therapeutic and recreational activities; assists with admitting and discharging patients; contributes to and supports the therapeutic milieu; ensures the safety and well- being of the patient population; participates as a team member of the clinical interdisciplinary team to ensure appropriate care support and resources to all internal/external customers and displays ongoing commitment to quality. Follows Marian Regional Medical Center rules policies procedures applicable laws and standards.

QualificationsExperience Education LIcensure Special Experience

2 years experience in an adult outpatient or inpatient unit.

Preferred: 3+ years of directly related experience in psychiatry. Background and knowledge of psychiatric and medical-surgical illnesses and treatments is preferred. Bilingual

BLS-CPR

Preferred: Current Psychiatric Technician CNAEMT LVN

Knowledge of team-based care and evidence-based clinical practice guidelines Knowledge of basic nursing aide functions Knowledge and understanding of the concept of patient-centered care. Ability to stay organized and flexible in a work environment with multiple assignments and changing priorities.
