JOB DESCRIPTION

The Traffic Technician is responsible for assisting staff in performing a variety of transportation planning/traffic engineering activities under medium to heavy supervision. Assists with traffic and parking studies using a variety of technical capacity analysis procedures, conducts field investigations, level of service calculations, prepares figures and other exhibits using. Assists with traffic count scheduling. Assists with the preparation of engineering and/or traffic planning reports for projects that are being analyzed.

DUTIES

Conduct field investigations of traffic and/or parking conditions; conduct roadway and intersection traffic counts; conduct parking surveys. Evaluate, compile and summarize the collected field data. Assist with all facets in the preparation of traffic impact studies for development projects. This entails calculating the trip generation and distribution for the specific project, calculating the level of service for the transportation facility and recommending corrective actions to attain the desired operational efficiency for the transportation system.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma required

Microsoft Office required

AutoCad required

Good written and verbal communications skills a plus.

Possession of a California Class C Driver's License and a clean driving record is required.

Having access to a personal vehicle for field studies and traffic counts is desirable
