Robert Half is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join a CPA firm as a Tax Preparer. As a Tax Preparer, you will be responsible for efficiently and accurately preparing tax returns for individuals and businesses. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of tax regulations, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to provide exceptional customer service. Additionally, you will possess a demonstrated history of accurately completing assignments and working in a deadline-driven environment. This is a contract / temporary position in the Santa Maria area.

Responsibilities:

- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure accurate and compliant filings.

- Identify potential tax credits and deductions to minimize clients' tax liabilities.

- Utilize tax preparation software such as UltraTax and QuickBooks (QB) to ensure accurate and compliant filings.

Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and businesses, including 1040's and 1120's.

- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries and concerns related to their tax returns.

- Collaborate with clients to gather any additional information required for accurate tax filings.

- Assist in resolving any tax-related issues or discrepancies with tax authorities.

- Keep abreast of industry trends and changes in tax software to enhance efficiency and accuracy in tax preparation.

- Maintain client confidentiality and ensure the security of sensitive financial information.

- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in tax preparation.

- Bring to fruition other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

- Proven experience as a Tax Preparer or in a similar role.

- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.

- Strong proficiency in tax preparation software and MS Office applications.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

- Relevant certification (Enrolled Agent, CPA, or similar) is a plus.

- Prior experience in a tax preparation firm is preferred.
