OVERHEAD DOOR TECHNICIAN

We are a family owned and operated small business with a long history (66 years) of serving the residents of Santa Barbara County area. We endeavor to deliver exceptional services to all our clients in the tri-county area. We are currently seeking a responsible, resolute, and self-sufficient Overhead Door Technician to join our team and provide essential support in our daily operations.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

An Overhead Door Technician maintains, services, and installs sectional, one-piece and rolling steel overhead doors and operators, in residential, commercial, and industrial applications. Job may require welding, low-voltage wiring, pneumatic tools, hand tools, heavy lifting, lifting overhead and work from ladders and operation of genie lifts, scissor lifts, forklifts and reach lifts. Technician is responsible for daily workload such as repairing doors and motors, trouble shooting errors, servicing equipment, estimating, and installing all types of overhead door products on site at customer locations, ensuring the quality and timeliness of service calls. Will require knowledge of construction techniques, power tools, hand tools, measuring tapes, laser levels and smart home video, Wi-Fi, and connected car in-dash controls.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Manage all on-site repairs, general maintenance, replacement and/or installation of overhead sectional garage doors, sheet and rolling steel doors, one-piece doors, bi-parting doors and garage door operators.

 Diagnose and troubleshoot automation system errors, technical equipment issues or supporting infrastructure problems and determine correct remedy.

 Provide excellent customer service and technical support during on-site service calls and/or via phone or email communications with client.

 Produce detailed service reports and itemize parts used on each job.

 Produce quotes for repairs, equipment or installations as needed.

 Build and maintain a positive relationship with customers.

 Document written service records, photographs, and maintain electronic communication.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Experienced candidates must possess prior knowledge of overhead door and operator installation and methods.

 Fork, Scissor Lift Certification (or certification within 3 months of hire).

 English literacy, Spanish a plus

 Familiarity with power tools and hand tools, own hand tools required.

REQUIREMENTS:

 2-Years Garage Door Installation experience (Residential or Commercial) and/or

 1-Years Construction Technology Certification or Union Apprenticeship Training Program

 Trades Work Experience: Journeyman or Apprentice (Carpenter/Millworker.)

 1-Years Framing, Cabinet, Door/Window or Flooring Installation

 Must be able to lift 75 lbs, and lift overhead weight

 Work is on ladders, scissor lifts, must be comfortable with heights.

 Must have a clean driving record and valid drivers’ license.
