Apprentice to Wedding Videographer/Filmmaker

California, Santa barbara, 93101 Santa barbara USA
Aplica ya

I own a wedding videography business based in Santa Barbara, and after many years of being the sole shooter, I'm looking to build out a team of people who can shoot in my style.

I use vintage lenses, manual focus, and a slider on my tripod to achieve a specific look that I want to train others in.

So, actually, if you have zero experience in video but you think it'd be a good fit for you, reach out. I can train you in everything you'll need to know.

If you have some experience or even a lot with video, you need to be willing to shoot with my equipment and approach for when you are working for me.

I'm imagining the apprenticeship to go something like this: we meet roughly once a week for a (paid) 2 hour training session (possibly with other apprentices at the same time.) In that session, I'd train you with my equipment, and then part of the time you'll actually film me doing various activities at the location, for footage for my unrelated YouTube channel passion project.

Eventually, you'd be brought along to client shoots as my assistant (weddings and otherwise). And then eventually, I'd send you out on your own client shoots.

As for compensation, that is to be determined.

If interested, please respond with the following information:

Tell me roughly what stage of life you are in just graduated high school? College? Looking for a career change?

Tell me what you would be comfortable with to start for the 2 hour training session in terms of compensation, and also, just for reference, what you would be comfortable with in terms of compensation if I were to bring you on an 8 hour wedding.

Also tell me what experience you have with photo or video (none is more than ok, in some ways may be beneficial to train you from scratch).

Tell me where you are based (ideally in Santa Barbara).

And what your schedule is (could you do a 2 hour shoot during the week, or do you work a full time job? This apprenticeship could work alongside a full time job, I just want to understand the factors at play for each applicant).

Thank you!
