Security Guard Job Description

POSITION: Security

REPORTS TO: Security Manager

KEY

RELATIONSHIPS: Club Members, Guests, Executive Management, Staff, Vendors

POSITION SUMMARY

As an integral part of the team, the Security Guard is responsible, first, for providing a safe and secure club environment for our members, guests, and staff in an effective and professional manner and, second, continuously looking for ways to improve the experience and service. Technologies and techniques in accordance with legal requirements will be utilized to provide effective and seamless provision of security services. He or She will conduct rounds and inspections of front and back of the house areas when the club is closed. In addition to processing and approving all persons who enter Montecito Club, the Security Guard is responsible for implementation and follow through of club safety and loss prevention efforts, emergency preparedness, emergency drills and OSHA standards.

This position is directly responsible for security and verifying each member, guest, vendor, person who enters the Club. Follows company and legal policies and procedures in addition to specific post duties. Additional responsibilities include actively working with management regarding safety and security. Accurate records and reports are communicated to management; in addition to collaborating with Human Resources regarding any employee investigations and employee injuries to ensure proper work injury related records are maintained and policy and procedure is properly implemented.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Capable of performing diverse, complex, and confidential services and duties.

2. Responsible for patrolling all areas of the Club during non-operating hours, noting unusual circumstances or safety violations. May have to escort individuals off property or confront undesirable persons.

3. Excellent communication skills being able to communicate upward, downward, and laterally.

4. Effective use of reporting to document unusual incidents, loss prevention, safety, and policy violation.

5. All violations immediately communicated to the Security Manager.

6. Monitor all camera systems.

7. Enforce all entrance/exit policies for Club Members, Guests, Staff and Vendors

8. Follow club procedures.

9. Maintain schedules, all overtime must be approved by Security Manager.

10. Accurate, well written, and timely reports done daily for all managers and staff.

11. Maintains good and effective working relationships with managers, local law enforcement, neighboring properties and residents, and other businesses.

12. Collaborate with Club’s outsourced parking company (Valet).

13. Implement member and guest entrance policy and procedure.

14. Encompass outstanding leadership, planning, and communication (oral and written) skills.

15. Enforce safety programs and meetings.

16. Attention to detail and specific post duties.

17. Appearance must be polished and professional, in addition following the Club’s dress and grooming guidelines as expressed in the employee handbook.

18. Flexibility to work according to business needs including private parties and VIP events, able to work weekends, holidays, and PM shifts.

19. Must be able to read, write, and communicate in the English language.

20. Responsible for reporting happenings of the day by submitting confidential security log to Security Manager.

21. Validate all members and guests to ensure accuracy of membership and registration of guests.

22. Communicate with Member Services and/or Golf Services via radio of all guests entering club facilities.

23. Guests must check in at Members Services and await arrival for members prior to utilizing the club unattended.

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS

Reports To: Security Guard Manager

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Working knowledge of Club emergency procedures and emergency preparedness area

Ability to remain calm under pressure.

Training and knowledge of the use of computers and software (Microsoft Office Excel and Word) is required.

Knowledge and understanding of OSHA regulations.

Knowledge of Local, State, and Federal laws pertaining to the activities of safety is required.

Familiarity with all Club safety devices, areas, and features.

Service oriented attitude with ability to respond promptly and professional assist all members and guests.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to sit, stand, walk, and bend for up to 8 hours throughout the work shift.

Frequent head/neck rotation, elbow flexion and rapid finger motions.

Endure physical activity throughout the work area.

Sensory, good speech for clear communication and good sight for inspections and administrative duties.

Remain in stationary position for hours throughout work shift.
