- Arrange and monitor the shipment of goods via air, sea, road, or rail to ensure timely and cost-efficient delivery
- Communicate with freight carriers to negotiate rates, book shipments, and address delivery concerns
- Prepare and review shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, customs paperwork, and freight invoices
- Ensure shipments comply with local, state, and international shipping regulations, including safety, handling, and customs documentation
- Monitor the status of shipments and provide real-time updates to clients, vendors, and internal teams
- Maintain accurate records of freight activities, including delays, costs, and performance metrics
- Work closely with warehouse teams to track and manage incoming and outgoing inventory related to freight operations
- Address discrepancies between freight records and physical inventory to resolve issues promptly
- Analyze shipping costs to identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining service quality standards
- Recommend strategies to optimize freight processes, including route planning and carrier selection
- Work cross-departmentally to support logistics, purchasing, and sales teams in fulfilling company objectives
- Investigate and resolve issues related to missing or damaged shipments, freight claims, delayed deliveries, and other transportation challenges
