Foster a Dog, Save a Life – Join Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue as a Foster Parent!

Are you ready to make a life-changing difference for a rescue dog? Become a foster parent with Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue! We are a 100% foster-based organization that relies on compassionate fosters to save dogs from high-kill shelters and provide them with loving, temporary homes while they await their forever families. Fostering is incredibly rewarding—there’s nothing quite like seeing a dog blossom because of your care and love.

We take care of all the expenses—food, toys, treats, beds, leashes, collars, and medical care. All you need to provide is a safe and loving environment!

Meet Annie and Axel – Dogs in Urgent Need of Fosters!

Annie: Annie is a sweet and quirky pit mix with a unique charm—she’s cross-eyed! While her limited vision doesn’t stop her from being an amazing companion, it can make meeting new people a bit tricky. She’s nervous around strangers and needs slow, gentle introductions to build trust. Annie should be the only dog in the home. While she gets along with large dogs, she does not do well with small dogs, so a pet-free household is best. Annie can get excited and bark when hearing noises outside, so she’d do best with someone who is home often to provide companionship and reassurance. With time and care, Annie will be an incredible, loyal friend who’s ready to shine in the right foster home!

Axel: Axel is a stunning 100 lb lab/Aussie shepherd mix who thrives with canine companions—he’s great with dogs of all sizes! However, he’s wary of people and needs a strong, experienced foster to help him build confidence. When meeting new people, Axel does best in calm, neutral settings. Busy, high-traffic areas or chaotic environments with kids running around can make him tense and nervous, which may cause him to react negatively. Eye contact can also feel like a challenge to him, so it’s best to avoid it initially. Once he feels comfortable, Axel transforms into a playful, loving companion who adores tug-of-war and quality time with his person. He’s protective, intelligent, and eager to bond with someone who understands his needs and can continue his positive training.

General Foster Requirements:

- Age: 21+

- Home Environment: No small dogs, cats, or young kids. Most of our dogs are large (60-100 lbs), so fosters must be comfortable with big dogs.

- Commitment to Events: Be available to bring your foster dog to Petco in West Hollywood every other Saturday for mandatory adoption events and to pick up supplies.

- Vet and Meet & Greets: Be able to take the dog to vet appointments and participate in meet-and-greets with potential adopters.

- Household Approval: Everyone in your home must agree to fostering before reaching out.

- Time Commitment: We ask for a minimum four-week commitment. Short-term or emergency fostering is helpful, but long-term fosters make the biggest impact!

- Fostering saves lives. Every dog you foster opens up space for us to rescue another from a high-kill shelter. It’s fulfilling, fun, and life-changing—for both you and the dog.
